The Latest: Precipitation ending in Maine, otherwise, nice and dry in the Northeast until later tomorrow

As mentioned time and time again on the last few of our posts, there is rain coming for the Northeast, and a lot of it, all next week.  For now though, there is only the wrapping up snow and rain in Maine moving into Canada to worry aboot.

The Latest:  Dry conditions for most of the Northeast for at least early on tomorrow…

The rain coming for the Northeast is now expected to arrive just a little earlier,(tomorrow), this means that anyone with outdoor activities planned tomorrow may have to alter them accordingly with the threat of some stray showers coming in.  Be careful, there is the potential for some stray thunderstorms mainly in the Mid Atlantic region as well.

The Latest:  Snow in Maine, didn’t spring already free the Northeast from winter?

Yes and no…

First off, everyone knows Maine is further north than locations such as New Jersey or Long Island, good.  This means that it will always be a little cooler in Maine than NYC on a normal spring day.   Since they are a bit cooler off than other locations in the Northeast, conditions in early April are still favorable for the eight inches or more of snow they have already received.  That is why those in Maine are shoveling away snow, while those in parts of New Jersey can already be shoveling away dirt to make room for a garden.

So if your freezing away in Caribou, Maine, or if your seeding a garden in New Jersey, stay safe and enjoy the milder temperatures, well, at least for southern parts of the Northeast (sorry Maine, not for you yet…),

Stay safe!

Wet weather incoming for parts if the Northeast US

Tonight into tomorrow much of the Northeast will be receiving precipitation.  Most places south of Massachusetts will likely receive rain while north of there will receive a wintry mix or some snow.  So snow melt will continue south of Massachusetts and slow down to the north.  Watch out for possible flooding tomorrow in and around the NYC Metro Area.

Possible localized icing is possible in and around the lower Hudson Valley.

Stay safe!

Don’t put away the mittens yet…

Thought winter was ending?  The unfortunate truth for Spring lovers is that cold temperatures, as suggested by the American GFS computer model, that there may be a big cool down on its way for the Northeast before this month is over.  The latest model run for the GFS model is suggesting a major dip in the jet stream to situate itself over the Northeast US that could bring wintry temperatures and conditions back for the Northeast as a “I’ll be back in December” gift to say goodbye for spring and summer (whatever those are.) Love winter? Want it to never end? Then you have likely been pleased by this post. Sick of the cold temperatures? Want spring? Just hang on, we promise that spring will be here… eventually.

Stay safe!

It’s warm now… but what about later?

The latest GFS computer model has shown that it is warm now, but soon the temperatures may fall again to allow yet another possibility of a snow event assuming this longer range prediction is accurate.  The 288 hour forecast for the 6Z run is suggesting more cold air will arrive towards the end of the month just in time for a low pressure to possibly come along and bring more snow to the Northeast.  Since this is a very long range forecast and is likely to change in some way or another before the end of this month.  So, although it is warmer now, it may be a good idea to keep a shovel and salt at hand.  For the time being though, enjoy the warmer temperatures!

Rain, Snow, or both?

That is the question one may ask if they are currently in the Northeast US.  If you have not seen already, there is the chance for a wintry event to occur in the Northeast Friday Night into Saturday.  The Weather Channel is calling for mostly rain, while the National Weather Service is calling for snow transitioning to a wintry mix. See the difference? That forecast was for in and around New York City. Weather 360 has to agree with the National Weather Service this time, but we will keep you posted on where this storm will go next.

Wintry weather this coming weekend for the Northeast?

Two very accurate computer models the GFS and the ECMWF have been hinting at a possible snow and rain event for the Northeast Friday Night into Saturday Night. The event in and around NYC should start as mainly snow but transitioning to a wintry mix during the day and tapering off overnight.  It is unknown what the accumulations may be in this event as of now.

For those who are winter weary in the Northeast don’t look at the temperatures in southern Florida…

Another change has been made to the posting schedule: Weather 360 will also post in the early afternoon hours before rush hour to give the heads up if there is a storm or breaking event in the Northeast.

Snow is falling in the Northeast… again

It seems like the Northeast cannot catch a break!  Currently it is snowing moderately in most of Connecticut, Southern New York, and most of the Mid-Atlantic. The snow in and around NYC will last until the early evening hours and will bring several more inches of the fluffy stuff that will accumulate on roads, grass, and roofs.  Nothing more to say except that after the NWS’s back and forth with the timing and accumulation the storm did shift a little further to the north.

Be safe!

INCOMING!

There are many things that are incoming for the Northeast in particular.  First off, if not by now then very soon rainy conditions in Southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic will changeover to a wintry mix then to all snow.  The snow may dump up to 10 inches in Southern Connecticut and New York before exiting into the open waters of the Atlantic.  The other incoming weather event for the Northeast will be the slightly warmer temperatures, although still below average in many places it will be warmer with highs above freezing in and around New York City settling in. Spring is coming, but just not very quickly.  Warmer temperatures are coming!

Watch out Mid Atlantic and Southern New England!

The second round of this wintry mess is arriving in the Mid Atlantic and Southern New England tonight into tomorrow evening.  The storm will bring some rain at first, changing to a wintry mix briefly before turning over to all snow by 2am in most places north of Trenton, New Jersey, (the changeover may take place a little later to places immediately south of Trenton.)  The storm could dump around three to six inches of snow in the New York City Metro area before making its way into the Atlantic.  Weather 360 would just like to put it out there for anybody who would enjoy spring weather right now, the temperatures on the East Coast and most of the Mid West will start to rise, although still much below average in some spots it will be a little warmer and a nice change after this brutally cold winter, (Southern Florida this does not go for you…)

Wintry mess makes it’s move on the Northeast

By now if you live in the Northeast you likely are seeing some snow falling out your window.  This same snow event will likely change over to rain tonight and taper off tomorrow midday as a couple of rain showers.  Beware! Although the rain will taper off in the Northeast there is another part of the storm coming in right behind it for the Northeast (mainly New England and New York.) This second part of the storm will bring at first a wintry mix overnight quickly transitioning to all snow during Thursday dumping possibly over six inches of snow in some places and tapering off in and around New York City by the afternoon hours and during the evening for Boston and the Cape.

Weather 360 urges everyone to use extra caution if outdoors and stay safe!
