Snow is falling now, but what about later?

It may be snowing now, but what about spring? Wasn’t today is the first day of spring?  What ever happened to that?

Although the first day of spring seems similar to the first day of winter, relief is on it’s way to the Northeast!  After the snow moves out and the cold temperatures move back in, warmer temperatures will arrive soon after.  So, if you have been enjoying winter and all the snow in the Northeast, Weather 360 regrets to inform you that the current snow falling may be the last snow of the season for the Northeast.  To anyone who would enjoy to see all the snow melt and warmer temperatures arrive you are likely very pleased right now.

Snow begins to fall in the Mid-Atlantic and New England

This is a special mid-storm update.

The early spring snowstorm in the Northeast is creating slick roadways and creating reduced visibility from Rhode Island to Maryland.  Bands of moderate to somewhat heavy snow are continuing to move across southern portions of New England and the Mid Atlantic, causing many schools in and around NYC and across the Northeast to either close or dismiss early.  Snow will, if not already, start to accumulate on grassy surfaces and roads.  Estimated accumulations across the Northeast are ranging from a couple of inches to as much as six inches of snow (with locally higher amounts.)  Remember to exercise extra caution while outside or on roadways while wintry weather is occurring. Stay safe!

Snowy conditions across the Northeast today, the first day of spring…

Today is the first day of spring! Didn’t notice?  We at Weather 360 don’t blame you.  Although the first day of spring is today, across southern portions of the Northeast a spring snowstorm will dump several inches of snow with locally higher amounts from parts of the Ohio Valley to the Hudson Valley.  In and around the NYC Metro Area the snow will begin around noon and end late tonight, while places east the snow will start a short time later and end a short time later as well.  Be mindful of possibly slick road conditions later today.

The Latest: Winter storm to impact Northeast on the first day of spring

The winter season feels like it is either starting up again or wrapping up, although the answer is winter is well on it’s decline, it does feel much like it could be November again for the Northeast.

The Latest: Winter storm on it’s way to the Northeast

A winter storm, or really spring storm that is of mostly snow, is to dump several inches of snow across the majority of the Northeast before moving out into the Atlantic and possibly impacting Nova Scotia with some snow too. The same computer models that have suggested this storm for the past several days are continuing to support the idea of this happening at a close to 100 percent chance.  Exercise extra caution while outdoors in wintry weather, and most of all, stay safe!

The Latest: The newest section of Weather 360

Around 8 PM EST, Weather 360 will announce on a new post the new section of the website.

The first day of second winter?

Tomorrow may be the first day of spring, but it sure won’t feel much like it in the Northeast.  Tomorrow a snow event will impact the majority of the southern portions of the Northeast, bringing with it several inches of snow across a large swath of the Northeast.  The timing of this storm will be perfect for snarling the morning and evening rush hour with bands of moderate to heavy snow.  It may seem to some in the Northeast that instead of tomorrow being the first day of spring, it may be more like the first day of a second winter (although the cold will only last for a little longer.)

Last snow storm of the season for the Northeast?

Weather 360 would like to apologize for not posting a post to unveil the new section of Weather 360, that post will be posted later today.

Today is March 19th 2015, normally, Weather 360 wouldn’t have to talk about this, but this winter isn’t very normal. With this in mind, it is not hard to guess what this may mean.  What it does mean is that tomorrow the majority of southern New England and most of the Mid Atlantic will be impacted by a snow event possibly dumping up to six inches in some localized areas.

The timing of the storm

In areas further to the west the precipitation will likely start while morning rush hour is winding up, and will end around midnight Saturday morning.

For locations further to the east the precipitation (mainly snow) will start before the evening rush hour begins and will start to taper off a couple of hours after midnight.

Any accumulations?

As previously mentioned, snow accumulations may be a couple of inches with some locally higher amounts where the heaviest snow falls and where it is cold enough to stay all snow (mainly all locations further north than Trenton and mostly to the east.)  So be prepared for snow accumulation, heed all watches, warnings, and advisories set out by the National Weather Service, and most of all, stay safe!

The latest

Welcome back to the latest post of ‘The latest’  by Weather 360.

So, the cool down has come for most of the Northeast again, only this time to bring yet another round of snow to the Mid Atlantic and southern New England.

The latest: Weather 360’s ‘Hurricane Package’

Well, Weather 360, before releasing the ‘Hurricane Package’ needs your feedback on what exactly you would like to see included in it (within reason.)  If all goes as planned, the ‘Hurricane Package’ should be released either in late April or sometime in May.  There is the possibility of an earlier or possibly later release of Weather 360’s ‘Hurricane Package’.

The latest: What do the computer models have to say about the snow event this Friday?

The latest runs of the NAM and NAM-HIRES are still suggesting light to moderate snow to fall across southern New England and the Mid Atlantic on Friday along with several other computer models.  It may be a good idea to keep shovels and salt at hand due to the possibility of several inches of snow to fall in some areas mainly across southeastern New York, southern Connecticut, northern New Jersey, and parts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

The latest: Watch out for another post to be posted soon!

Weather 360 will post another post tonight to announce a new section of Weather 360.

Stay safe!

Guess where? The Northeast… AGAIN

Sorry Northeast, it seems as if your weather is about a month or so late…

Although it may sound a little strange, it is true.  The Northeast of the US has been experiencing what has felt like a one month delayed schedule, where the cold doesn’t arrive until January, and where the relief doesn’t arrive until April.  This may explain why there is a storm system that has it’s eyes set on southern New England is likely to dump several inches of snow in some areas (mainly where the temperatures are cold enough and where there is enough precipitation falling.)

This Friday, around noon near NYC, mainly to the north, the snow will begin to fall and rapidly intensify to a moderate snow. While in areas further south and closer to the coast will experience a wintry mix with the same intensity.  So, not much has changed since the last post made, but Weather 360 will continue to keep you updated as the storm draws nearer.

Snow is on it’s way! To the Northeast…

It can be interesting when the slightest change in temperatures and track of a storm system can completely alter the forecast for a given area.  That is what parts of New England are experiencing today.  The NAM computer model along with others are now showing two smaller and weaker storm systems combining in the Ohio Valley to bring a mixed precipitation there, but as it heads northeast, it will meet some cold air which could bring up to several inches of snow (not ice, rain, or sleet, such as most late-winter systems) to parts of southern New England.  In and around NYC to the north, the snow should start around noon and end just after midnight, but in NYC itself, the snow will mix in with rain and sleet to possibly create icy and hazardous conditions on the road ways.  For those in winter weary Boston, there isn’t as high of a chance of the storm impacting that area, so it seems to be as if Boston is mainly in the clear of experiencing another major winter storm for a while.  Weather 360 will provide more updates on the track and intensity of this storm as it approaches the Northeast.

Stay safe!
