The latest GFS computer model has shown that it is warm now, but soon the temperatures may fall again to allow yet another possibility of a snow event assuming this longer range prediction is accurate. The 288 hour forecast for the 6Z run is suggesting more cold air will arrive towards the end of the month just in time for a low pressure to possibly come along and bring more snow to the Northeast. Since this is a very long range forecast and is likely to change in some way or another before the end of this month. So, although it is warmer now, it may be a good idea to keep a shovel and salt at hand. For the time being though, enjoy the warmer temperatures!

How Weather 360’s ‘Hurricane Package’ will work
THIS IS A FICTIONAL SITUATION DEPICTING WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF:
A category two hurricane is barreling towards the Northeast. The following would take place.
1) An emergency email would be sent first including NWS & NHC statements/warnings.
2) Another notification would be sent including all spaghetti model info.
3) The third notification will include landfall odds, facility closure odds,likely road conditions, power outage odds, expected winds, expected rain, expected storm surge, another summary (by Weather 360) on the storm, and another summary of watches/warnings.
There may be some changes to this set up before this is released.
The National Hurricane Center’s warning system
It’s October 29th 2012, Superstorm Sandy is battering down on the Northeast Coast, 17 are left dead in the United States. The National Hurricane Center had to strip the Hurricane Warnings that were in place due to Superstorm Sandy being a post-tropical cyclone and no longer maintaining the hurricane status. In June of 2013 a newer version of the system was put in place, this new version of the system made sure that if there was to be another Sandy or extremely dangerous post tropical cyclone with winds sustained at warning criteria warnings would stay in place. The new warning system created by the NHC could save lives, when there is a Hurricane Warning people tend to take it more seriously than no warning at all. The Atlantic Basin is approaching it’s hurricane season, so Weather 360 would like to take the time now to make sure in the back of everyone’s mind they know to heed all advisories, watches, and weather warnings set out by the NHC or NWS.
Rain tonight into tomorrow causing rapid melting in the Northeast.
As the several feet of snow burying New England starts to thaw away flooding is becoming a larger threat along with morning black ice in areas with higher temperatures during the day with cooler temperatures below freezing at night. Along with the melting currently occurring, tonight in most places in southern New England it will rain. This will soak the already wet snow with even more water before melting the following day, meaning that there will be even more water to be released when the snow melts causing localized flooding. Turn around, don’t drown.

Weather 360 would just like to update everyone on Weather 360’s changes on this 7 PM EST post by starting out with a slightly altered and official schedule for Weather 360’s updating times: Weekdays, 7AM, a pre afternoon rush hour post, and a 7 PM post.
Now that everyone is caught up on that Weather 360 would also like to point out that Weather 360 will still be providing links for current and future weather conditions around the world for now, but will now only post for the Northeast in the off-hurricane season although we will still be providing forecasts for the whole Atlantic Basin once hurricane season begins this June.
Remember to keep a look out for our knew ‘Hurricane Package’ which is ahead of schedule and is expected to be released sooner than expected pending the time when more information becomes available for dissection.
Wintry weather this coming weekend for the Northeast?
Two very accurate computer models the GFS and the ECMWF have been hinting at a possible snow and rain event for the Northeast Friday Night into Saturday Night. The event in and around NYC should start as mainly snow but transitioning to a wintry mix during the day and tapering off overnight. It is unknown what the accumulations may be in this event as of now.
For those who are winter weary in the Northeast don’t look at the temperatures in southern Florida…
Another change has been made to the posting schedule: Weather 360 will also post in the early afternoon hours before rush hour to give the heads up if there is a storm or breaking event in the Northeast.
Warmup on its way!
After a snow event blanketed the Mid Atlantic and Southern New England with several inches of snow and left the Northeast to deal with some more cold temperatures, a warmup is on its way! Starting Saturday in most locations in the Northeast warmer temperatures will start to set in. For the first time in a while locations in New England will receive several days in a row of high temperatures above 40 degrees, but with low temperatures still much below the freezing line. This April is still expected to be cooler than normal in the Northeast, but is still going to be a big improvement for most places in and around New York City. As Hurricane Season 2015 approaches, Weather 360 will soon be offering a ‘Hurricane Package’ which more information about can be found on the ‘Atlantic Hurricane Season’ page.
INCOMING!
There are many things that are incoming for the Northeast in particular. First off, if not by now then very soon rainy conditions in Southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic will changeover to a wintry mix then to all snow. The snow may dump up to 10 inches in Southern Connecticut and New York before exiting into the open waters of the Atlantic. The other incoming weather event for the Northeast will be the slightly warmer temperatures, although still below average in many places it will be warmer with highs above freezing in and around New York City settling in. Spring is coming, but just not very quickly. Warmer temperatures are coming!
Watch out Mid Atlantic and Southern New England!
The second round of this wintry mess is arriving in the Mid Atlantic and Southern New England tonight into tomorrow evening. The storm will bring some rain at first, changing to a wintry mix briefly before turning over to all snow by 2am in most places north of Trenton, New Jersey, (the changeover may take place a little later to places immediately south of Trenton.) The storm could dump around three to six inches of snow in the New York City Metro area before making its way into the Atlantic. Weather 360 would just like to put it out there for anybody who would enjoy spring weather right now, the temperatures on the East Coast and most of the Mid West will start to rise, although still much below average in some spots it will be a little warmer and a nice change after this brutally cold winter, (Southern Florida this does not go for you…)
Wintry mess makes it’s move on the Northeast
By now if you live in the Northeast you likely are seeing some snow falling out your window. This same snow event will likely change over to rain tonight and taper off tomorrow midday as a couple of rain showers. Beware! Although the rain will taper off in the Northeast there is another part of the storm coming in right behind it for the Northeast (mainly New England and New York.) This second part of the storm will bring at first a wintry mix overnight quickly transitioning to all snow during Thursday dumping possibly over six inches of snow in some places and tapering off in and around New York City by the afternoon hours and during the evening for Boston and the Cape.
