Tonight into tomorrow much of the Northeast will be receiving precipitation. Most places south of Massachusetts will likely receive rain while north of there will receive a wintry mix or some snow. So snow melt will continue south of Massachusetts and slow down to the north. Watch out for possible flooding tomorrow in and around the NYC Metro Area.
Possible localized icing is possible in and around the lower Hudson Valley.

A monster category five equivalent cyclone is churning towards Vanuatu with winds of over 160 MPH. So the question is, could this happen in the US? The answer is most definitely yes. This is due to the fact that the same caliber hurricane has occurred before in the Atlantic Basin. How about Hurricane Katrina, it was a category five hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico before making landfall as a category three in Louisiana just a few days later. Now, the other question is, could this happen again? The answer is once again yes. This is due to the fact that a category five hurricane can easily form if there is little wind shear and warm ocean temperatures. If a hurricane such as the one churning towards Vanuatu now was to impact the US, Weather 360 will immediately talk about what this could mean for the area to be impacted.
For anyone who dislikes winter, there will be some more cold coming into the northeast. The question is though, will there be more snow for the northeast? The answer is likely no large snow events, maybe a few small clippers bringing a wintry mix of sort with likely no significant accumulation (over 6 inches) for the rest of the season. So the cold temperatures will last for maybe a few days after this warm (er) spell then quickly returning back to warmer, more spring-like temperatures.

Thought winter was ending? The unfortunate truth for Spring lovers is that cold temperatures, as suggested by the American GFS computer model, that there may be a big cool down on its way for the Northeast before this month is over. The latest model run for the GFS model is suggesting a major dip in the jet stream to situate itself over the Northeast US that could bring wintry temperatures and conditions back for the Northeast as a “I’ll be back in December” gift to say goodbye for spring and summer (whatever those are.) Love winter? Want it to never end? Then you have likely been pleased by this post. Sick of the cold temperatures? Want spring? Just hang on, we promise that spring will be here… eventually.

The latest GFS computer model has shown that it is warm now, but soon the temperatures may fall again to allow yet another possibility of a snow event assuming this longer range prediction is accurate. The 288 hour forecast for the 6Z run is suggesting more cold air will arrive towards the end of the month just in time for a low pressure to possibly come along and bring more snow to the Northeast. Since this is a very long range forecast and is likely to change in some way or another before the end of this month. So, although it is warmer now, it may be a good idea to keep a shovel and salt at hand. For the time being though, enjoy the warmer temperatures!

Now that everyone is caught up on that Weather 360 would also like to point out that Weather 360 will still be providing links for current and future weather conditions around the world for now, but will now only post for the Northeast in the off-hurricane season although we will still be providing forecasts for the whole Atlantic Basin once hurricane season begins this June.

Two very accurate computer models the GFS and the ECMWF have been hinting at a possible snow and rain event for the Northeast Friday Night into Saturday Night. The event in and around NYC should start as mainly snow but transitioning to a wintry mix during the day and tapering off overnight. It is unknown what the accumulations may be in this event as of now.
For those who are winter weary in the Northeast don’t look at the temperatures in southern Florida…
Another change has been made to the posting schedule: Weather 360 will also post in the early afternoon hours before rush hour to give the heads up if there is a storm or breaking event in the Northeast.
After a snow event blanketed the Mid Atlantic and Southern New England with several inches of snow and left the Northeast to deal with some more cold temperatures, a warmup is on its way! Starting Saturday in most locations in the Northeast warmer temperatures will start to set in. For the first time in a while locations in New England will receive several days in a row of high temperatures above 40 degrees, but with low temperatures still much below the freezing line. This April is still expected to be cooler than normal in the Northeast, but is still going to be a big improvement for most places in and around New York City. As Hurricane Season 2015 approaches, Weather 360 will soon be offering a ‘Hurricane Package’ which more information about can be found on the ‘Atlantic Hurricane Season’ page.
If you haven’t heard already, a Delta plane did skid off runway 13 at Laguardia Airport closing down the airport until 7 PM EST. There are no serious injuries reported. At the time of the accident there was moderate snow falling at Laguardia with a few inches reported at the time as well. Please listen to your news channel for more information on flight cancellations and other information on the incident.

By now if you live in the Northeast you likely are seeing some snow falling out your window. This same snow event will likely change over to rain tonight and taper off tomorrow midday as a couple of rain showers. Beware! Although the rain will taper off in the Northeast there is another part of the storm coming in right behind it for the Northeast (mainly New England and New York.) This second part of the storm will bring at first a wintry mix overnight quickly transitioning to all snow during Thursday dumping possibly over six inches of snow in some places and tapering off in and around New York City by the afternoon hours and during the evening for Boston and the Cape.
